Coping with Oasis Hiatus Blues
1. Catch up. Its really hard everyday to read every article, go through SCYHO.com and read all the back news, I guarantee you there is something there you might have missed.
2. Start a bootleg collection. If you don’t have one already. Its easier to catch up when Oasis isn’t playing nearly every night. I have started a binder, sectioned off by year and printed up Oasis’ gigography off of Inet and started checking gigs off.
3. Check out bands you haven’t had time for. If you really are begging for something Oasis related as you go through back news, note the bands Oasis has mentioned, or has opened for Oasis, you might surprised with the music you will find.
4. Start your Oasis Tour Fund NOW. I know I have said this a million times but if your serious about seeing Oasis next tour (or seeing them multiple times) the time is start saving is now! Plus you will only have to put away a little a week and when Oasis finally start up again you will be sorted !
5. Start a blog. Direct your Oasis excitement towards something creative, I would love to see blogs on Oasis setlists/ gig info, Oasis collecting, bootlegs, Youtubes, photos, anything! If you set one up please remember you send me a link!
6. Get Super Creative. Oasis is ideal for living right? So incorporate your love into everyday life, for me seeing anything Oasis cheers me right up. Paint, draw, create anything Oasis, and it will help keep you Oasis spirt alive for however long Oasis is gone.
How will you cope? Please post any other tips you might have fighting that Oasis hiatus blues.

I doubt there are many of these around. I got one from the New York screening from earlier that month. Its a very cheap start price as well.

Oasis Played there?: Jug of Ale

Second in our series, Oasis played the Jug of Ale early in 1994, the pub is now closed but its shocking to think Oasis played there. Only three years later Oasis would play Birmingham again, this time in the arena!
(Was) Located:
43 Alcester Road, Moseley
Birmingham, UK
Oasis played there: March 28, 1994
"The dressing room at the Jug Of Ale in Moseley was actually a toilet"-Noel Gallagher
About: (From the pub's defunk website)
POP collides with punk and drum and bass shrugs moodily at metal at the Jug of Ale; Birmingham's coolest pub.
Located in the famously bohemian area of Moseley, The Jug of Ale is a large venue with the friendly atmosphere and heart of the cosiest snug.
A small upstairs bar provides a platform for local, national and even international bands, while downstairs a rotating schedule of DJs ensures that if you don't like one song, another will be along in a minute.
The emphasis is on style at The Jug of Ale - your own style. This is a place to be yourself, whoever you have to be in your working day, and a discretionary 21s and over policy at the weekend ensures this mellow vibe isn't lost at the time when you need it most.
And if ace tunes, great beer and good company isn't enough for your hungry soul, you could always risk the high tension of the regular poker game, pit your wits in the weekly quiz or hustle your way into the pool tournament.BBC Article about the Pub Closing:
The famed Birmingham pub - a landmark for the local music scene - is being sold off by owners Scottish and Newcastle Pub Enterprises to make way for redevelopment.
For 16 years, hundreds of West Midlands bands have performed at the venue and it has become a haven for unsigned groups hoping to hit the big time.
The likes of Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene and The Verve all performed at The Jug on their way to super-stardom
With news of the pub's closure only being made public in the final few days of March, Birmingham music promoter Arthur Tapp quickly booked three farewell gigs, featuring some of the best up-and-coming bands in Birmingham.
Envy & Other Sins headlined on Tuesday 6th May, with fellow West Midlands bands The Traps and The High Society taking to the stage two nights later.
The final ever gig at the venue occurred on Sunday 11th May, with Misty's Big Adventure and The Mexicolas topping the bill.
To mark the occasion, all the bands on the last night performed for free and there was no entrance charge.
"It's not about making money at all tonight," said Arthur Tapp. "I just wanted everyone to have a good night and come down for a beer.
"In the early 90's when I started promoting there were actually very few places where bands could go and perform. The Jug Of Ale is loved by fans and bands alike as it's been a place where you could see great live music on a regular basis.
"This is a strange night, very sad in a lot of ways. It's really hitting me now. This is a real blow to the local music scene."
The Jug Of Ale in Moseley is set to close for good in a couple of days with its demolition happening soon after. -BBC Birmingham May 11, 2008

How to Get Up Front at an Oasis gig

Tips for getting up front at a "Standing" or General Admission gig.
1. Scope out the venue. If you live or your hotel is near by, take a look around. Ask questions (if there’s anyone around) about where to queue up the next day, and how they let people in.
2. The early bird (or lad) gets the bar in front of Liam. And I mean EARLY, yes it seems obscene to get up at 4am to see Oasis, but trust me the best time is on the bar.
3. Wear running shoes, trainers, whatever you call them. Now is not the time to wear your cute heels or flip flops, good shoes and socks you will not regret it.
4. Stock up on throw aways. Yes your going to be sitting on line ALL DAY. If you don’t have a car, house or hotel within walking distance, as well as a mate that is willing to sit in line while you get all your stuff back. It is essential you bring a plastic bag to sit on, magazine, WATER, FOOD and nothing that you will have to carry or stash.
5. Run like hell. You might even want to start running a bit before the gig if your particularly seriously about getting up front. Because when those doors open up it will be chaos!
6. Get in front of Gem and Andy. The spots in front of Liam and Noel are always taken first, don’t settle for behind the person on the bar, go for Gem and Andy spots, not only will you see Liam just as well, the crowd usually shifts that way and you will almost always get even closer.
7. Look for barrier bars. If you are little, a female, or not up for battling too much with the crowd its best to find the bars holding up the barriers, they should of look like triangles against the barriers. You will be able to hold on to them when the crowd shifts and not lose your place. If they spilt the crowd down the middle (they sometimes do this to help with the crazy shifting that goes on at gigs) the corners where the bar meets the corner are the BEST place to be, this happened to me in Toronto 08 and I didn’t move for the WHOLE festival.
8. If you get there late. Please do not try to elbow, kick or fight your way through. People will generally let you through if you ask nicely and look like you know where your going. Its very rude to push people who have waiting all day for the best spot, after you arrived just before Oasis comes on.
9. As a general rule, I have read a lot of complaints about this on forums DO NOT THROW URINE!!! Its disgusting, and no one likes leaving a gig stinking of someone elses pee! Obviously if you get beer through out the gig, you can use the toilet, or go pee in a corner. If your front row an don't want to move, find a cup or a bottle (preferably one with a cap)pee and place it down front on the OTHER side of the barrier. If your a girl just hold it, though I suspect its not the girls throwing piss! :P

Oasis Played There?: Maxwell's, Hoboken, New Jersey
Maxwell's

Address:
1039 Washington Street,
Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
When: Oct. 28, 1994
Maxwell's is a music club in Hoboken, New Jersey that also has a restaurant and bar. The intimate venue often attracts a wide variety of acts looking for a change from the New York City concert spaces across the river.
History
The club was opened in August 1978 by Steve Fallon. When the Fallon family bought the corner building in uptown Hoboken with its street-level tavern, Steve's sisters Kathryn Jackson Fallon and Anne Fallon Mazzolla along with brother-in-law Mario Mazzola were interested in turning the factory workers' tavern (General Foods' Maxwell House Coffee factory was a block away on the Hudson River[) into more of a restaurant. The Hoboken band "a" (featuring Glenn Morrow, Richard Barone, Frank Giannini, and Rob Norris) asked if they could rehearse in an unused back room and play a few gigs in the front for the restaurant's patrons. The live music quickly caught on and Steve started booking bands into the back room. Over time, Steve's booking taste, freewheeling personality and respectful treatment towards musicians made Maxwell's and Hoboken a looked-forward-to stop on many bands' tours. By making the blue-collar mile-square city with a rough-and-tumble reputation a cultural gathering place, Maxwell's was instrumental in sparking Hoboken's first wave of early 1980s gentrification — the artists and musicians. In that light, it is also believed that Anne and Mario may have offered the first successful Sunday brunch in Hoboken.
Maxwell's having become so successful that it spawned not only Pier Platters, an independent record store near the PATH train station that Fallon invested in, a whole music and cultural "scene" epitomized by the Hoboken Sound (which was featured in an hour-long television special on a local NYC station), and Fallon's own record label Coyote Records, Steve hired Todd Abramson to take over the booking of the acts in the mid-1980s. Abramson has, essentially, been booking the venue ever since (except for a short period in the late 1990s after Fallon sold the club and Maxwell's was converted into a short-lived brew pub.)
At a time when one of the Fallon siblings wanted to divest of their interest in the business, Peter Buck (guitarist for R.E.M.) bought their piece to help his friend Steve Fallon keep it open as a resource for enthusiasts of new music. Later, Bob Mould of Hüsker Dü, Sugar and a solo career bought out Buck's ownership for the same reasons.
Sadly, when Steve wanted completely out, he and his partners sold Maxwell's to William Sutton in December 1995 who then planned but failed to turn it into a brewpub. Booker Todd Abramson,[2] Steve Shelley (drummer of Sonic Youth) and Dave Post of the Amazing Incredibles and Swingadelic arranged to bring Maxwell's back, and re-opened it on July 26, 1998.[1] While some longtime patrons miss the more free-wheeling Steve Fallon days, Maxwell's is now as vital a part of the independent music community as it was in the 1980s and 1990s.
Bands
The first band to play at Maxwell's was "a" which included three future members of The Bongos (Richard Barone, Rob Norris, and Frank Giannini, who was Maxwell's cook and devised their first menu), fronted by Glenn Morrow (later of The Individuals and founder of Bar/None Records). The Bongos were the first band from the 1980s Hoboken scene to be signed to a major label, RCA, after a series of British singles and tours. In the mid-1980s R.E.M. played there on a frequent basis. The club was important to emerging trends as diverse as punk, grunge, and indie rock of the 1980s and early 1990s. Bands like Husker Du, fIREHOSE,the Meat Puppets, Sonic Youth, Fugazi,Archers of Loaf, The Cynics, Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Juliana Theory, Mudhoney, Fire in Cairo, Tad, the Melvins, Mod Fun, Mystic Eyes, Nirvana, Hole, The Afghan Whigs, The Smashing Pumpkins, and G Love and Special Sauce all have played there. Buzzcocks, Blue Öyster Cult,[16] The Fall, the Minutemen, The Mess Around, Robyn Hitchcock,Katrina & the Waves, Flipper, Rain Parade, The Cowsills,Wire, The Pogues, Pylon, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, John Cale, Snakefinger, David Byrne, The Slits, The Stations, The Strokes, Matt Nathanson, John Doe, Mary Lou Lord, Electric Six, and The Ataris also made appearances on stage at Maxwell's. The Bongos, The Cyclones, The Individuals, and The dB's were mainstays in the beginning with The Feelies playing frequently towards the later half of the 1980s. They continue this tradition today with bands like The Dirtbombs Lemuria, Crooked Fingers, and Stars.
Notable events
Parts of the music video for Bruce Springsteen's "Glory Days" were filmed at Maxwell's on May 28, 1985. The music video was directed by Hoboken resident John Sayles.[
In the early 1990s Maxwell's was voted the "Best Club In New York — Even Though It's In New Jersey" by the New Yorker Magazine.
In the 2005 Village Voice Best of NY poll, Maxwell's was voted "Best Reason to Leave the State for Dinner and a Show". Also in 2005, The New York Times wrote that Maxwell's was "so New York that it's in New Jersey".
New Order played one of their first American concerts at Maxwell's. Depending on who you talk to, either it was a shambles with the band not so ready to play after the demise of Ian Curtis from Joy Division, or it was a fantastic show, according to Tony Wilson, the Factory Records chief who wrote a recollection of the event in an opinion column in London based Uncut magazine's July 2006 issue.
In 1989 the band Nirvana released their debut album Bleach on June 15 and went on tour to support sales of the album. They appeared at Maxwell's on July 13, 1989 and early in the day before the show photographer Ian Tilton took several pictures of the band around Hoboken. The picture of frontman Kurt Cobain has since been used in dozens of magazines, newspapers and websites before and after his death.
The video for the song "Away" by The Feelies, directed by Jonathan Demme was recorded at Maxwell's in 1988. After a seventeen year hiatus The Feelies reunited to appear at Maxwell's in July 2008,and they made appearances again in July 2009. -Wikipedia
